
NC State College of Veterinary Medicine opens its doors to the public for a free open house Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a very popular annual event.
It takes place at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, 1060 William Moore Dr., Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wear closed-toe shoes. Children must be accompanied by adults. No pets allowed.

At this event you learn about the operations and facilities at the Veterinary Hospital, and check out the classrooms and laboratories. There will be plenty of demonstrations and activities as well.
Hands-On Activities
There will be a lot of hands-on activities!
- Get your favorite stuffed animal repaired in the Teddy Bear Clinic
- Learn how veterinarians and students care for farm animals
- Hear from a current veterinary student on what it’s really like to study at the College of Veterinary Medicine
- Take part in a “mini clinical trial” with our Clinical Studies Core team
- See how our researchers are improving animal and human health
- Engage with local animal organizations

Dog Demonstrations
- 9:30 a.m. – Tricks for Treats – See a great array of tricks that you can teach your dog & learn how to earn titles in the AKC Trick Dog program.
- 10 a.m. – From Kindergarten to Ph.D. – Competition Obedience: Take basic commands to the next level. See dogs heeling off leash, jumping, retrieving and performing many high-level obedience exercises.
- 10:30 a.m. – The Nose Knows – Learn about the sport of Scent Work and how you can put your dog’s strongest sense organ to work to earn titles and give them a job!
- 12 p.m. – Canine Obstacle Course: Agility – See dogs jump, tunnel and weave through a dog agility course.
- 12:30 p.m. – Round Them Up! – Herding – Watch herding dogs move ducks around the field and learn more about how herding dogs are trained and work.
